Winemaker Marc Kent, a well-known Syrah specialist, produces one of South Africa's best wines with his red wine "The Chocolate Block". Originally, the cuvée comes in a French style, modelled on the northern Rhône. However, the wine brings with it the typical local fruitiness and richness. However, not too many bottles are available of this outstanding wine. This is because Boekenhoutskloof obtains its wine from limited vineyards in various vineyards that are cultivated with very low yields.
The Chocolate Block" presents itself in a deep ruby-red with violet reflections and an almost black garnet-pitted taste. The wine shows aromas of red berries, dark fruit compotes and violets. On the palate, the wine tastes of red and black berries. The finish is long, tastes very good and reminds of dark nut chocolate.
